We will be taking our youngest daughter (Cool to Camp Seafarer this weekend. Tonight at dinner I was telling her I wish she could have gone to Camp Morehead. Those were great times I had and I wish she could experience them as well. I know she will have a blast but there is nothing like hearing Captn Purcell waking you up and all the other events that occurred there.

PS: I told her to make sure and shower good to get that dirty old polluted Neuse water off her! Laughing

Dear Jeff -- If you are the Jeff Davis from West End Richmond, I am Tucker Maloney's little brother John., age 43. We took our 9-year-old to Camp Greystone near Asheville today. Last summer I went by the Morehead property to show her where I learned about fun. We rent on Emerald Isle every August. Bogue Sound looks a lot smaller now. I wonder if there will ever be another Camp Morehead reunion? Emerald Isle would be a good spot.

I was a sort of quasi-camper at Morehead; I was there for 3 days in the spring of 1987. My school sponsored this outing as a way to learn about the ocean and life in the wilds. The entire 8th grade went.

My school was Charlotte Country Day School, Charlotte, NC. My sister also went here, in 1988, both as a student and a regular camper. The memories I have of the place are all good... so sad to see that it closed. What happened? Not enough business? Pity...

Jeff - we took my son to Camp Sea Gull on June 21st...he will be there until July 17th. Sea Gull is definitely NOT Camp Morehead, but it was the next best alternative. I forgot to warn him about that polluted Neuse River water!!!

Cesium_133 - believe it or not I live in the neighborhood across the street from Charlotte Country Day School!

So do my sister's in-laws :p Is there any kind of plan in the works for another reunion anytime in the future? If so, I would love an invite Smile Even if I were only there 3 days as part of a school trip... I lived a lot in those days... learned a lot...
